Ford to build new plant in India.
Ford Motors which is competing for the Indian car market against the Toyota, Nissan, VW and GM has decided to open its second plant with the investment of US$ 1 billion in the Indian state of Gujarat. The plant is expected to produce 240,000 vehicles and 270,000 engines per year and the plant is expected to fulfill its production line by 2015 where a work force of 5,000 people will be engaged in the production.
Currently Ford's plant in Tamilnadu state is doing well with the out put of 200,000 vehicles per year.

Actually Ford Company is target ting the Indian Auto market in the small car sector as Indians much prefer to purchase comfortable small cars. Currently Ford's Figo model is doing good sales in the Indian market where it is priced around US$ 8,000 per unit. According to market results Ford has sold 60,000 of its cars in India and through export.
Recently Ford has announced its new Fiesta sedan that comes from the Tamil Nadu plant and it is the 6th plant to produce Ford Sedan world wide. Indian Ford new Fiesta is priced at US$ 25,000.

Mean while Ford will have a good competition from the Indian car makers like Maruti Suzuki and Tata Nano. Any how Ford is gaining market share all over in the Asian region and its sales are picking up while they are opening new plants too in the Asia region to keep with the increasing demand for their models.
