Honda Returns to the Dakar Rally.
Honda has announced their return to the Dakar Rally in the year 2013 in the motorcycle class in the Dakar Rally to be held in January 2013 in South America where it will have to compete from Peru, Chile to Argentina. Honda was regular participant in the Paris-Dakar Rally from 1981 through to.
1989, and it became winner for five times during that season. After 24 years of absence since 1989 Honda returns to Dakar Rally next year 2013.
The Honda team which will be called as Team HRC will include popular riders of world class like Portuguese rider Helder Rodrigues, Brazilian Felipe Zanol, Sam Sunderland of United Kingdom and Javier Pizzolito Argentina in their team. The riders of Team HRC will ride a prototype machine developed and produced by the Motorcycle R&D Center at Honda R&D based on the popular CRF450X model that is famous for its enduro racing model which combines ease of handling with superior competitive strength to lead in a race.
According to the President of the Honda Racing Corporation "The Dakar requires competitors to cover several hundred kilometers per day for more than two weeks. It needs a totally different type of vehicle from events such as motocross, trials and road races. Honda has put a great deal of effort into designing and building a powerful and winning machine.
We are aiming for the championship from this first year.".
Mean while the Honda announced a summary of automobile production outside of Japan for the month of May 2012.
